A VERY MERRY Christmas Party...

Last night was the first "annual Christmas shindig" in the new house...and WHAT a shindig it was!!! We had an extremely large turn-out & everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves (including my little Rosalita who kept leaving the party to nap but then popping right back up to party with the grown-ups).

Over the years, the yearly Christmas party has come to mean a great deal to me. I started my own tradition nearly 15 years ago when I was still living with my college room-mate. We had a great many friends who, for whatever reason, were not close with their own families so we made a family of our own and started the practice of gathering every year, usually the Saturday before Christmas, to have our own "family" get together. The group has certainly grown and changed throughout the years...people have come and gone; there are a lot of new faces but still some of the originals as well. And every year I look forward to our gathering because it's often the only time I get to really spend with some of these folks. Patrick also had his own annual party tradition so it only made sense to bring the two together and continue on after we got married.

This has really been an incredible year for us. We finally have our little Rosebud and a home of our own...and it was so special to get to celebrate that with everyone last night. We truly have a great deal to be thankful for and the feeling of a full house with everyone celebrating is just another thing to add to the LONG list. Thanks to everyone who came last night and, to those who couldn't make it, we missed you. I'm already looking VERY FORWARD to doing it all over again next year!
